Equipping finance professionals to succeed in the future of finance, since 2018.
What began on a Wells Fargo investment banking desk is now how finance professionals worldwide learn the tools their work is moving toward: from Excel, to Python, to AI, and whatever comes next.

The people behind PyFi

Zach founded PyFi, originally Machine Learning Edge, in 2018 after a career as an investment banker at Wells Fargo Securities. While learning Python on the job, he noticed how much it had in common with the Excel models he built every day. Thinking of Python like Excel, he picked it up fast and went on to build Wells Fargo Securities' first machine learning algorithm for investment banking and capital markets. After filing two algorithms for patent protection and winning Wells Fargo's 2018 Local Sphere Innovation Award, he left the bank to teach finance professionals the skills he had taught himself.

Gill came to PyFi from a career in Manhattan brokerage, where he built his own team and led $100M in residential sales. He turned his attention to a new industry with one goal: modernize how finance professionals learn and work. Bringing a background in business development, sales, marketing, and management, he scaled PyFi's distribution across North America and into major banks, then partnered with Zach and took the company global. He now leads PyFi as CEO.

Umut leads PyFi's curriculum and technology as CTO and Head of Programming. Based in London, he brings more than ten years in finance across Deutsche Bank, Garanti Bank, and Danske Commodities, with a specialization in Python, machine learning, and deep learning. He designs the programs PyFi teaches and instructs its live cohorts, translating frontier AI and ML methods into skills finance professionals can use the next morning.
